Root llms.txt file

llms.txt is an optional text file at the site root that some AI-related crawlers use to discover guidance about using your content. SEO Perception may surface a low-priority suggestion when the file is absent—only on patterns defined in our evaluation (see technical details).

What we look for

We probe https://your-domain/llms.txt on homepage evaluation and treat first-hop HTTP 200 as “present.” The possibility for “missing” follows product rules so sites without any feed or requirement are not nagged incorrectly.

What to do

If you want to participate, publish a concise llms.txt at the root with policies and pointers your team agrees to. If you intentionally omit it, you can ignore the possibility.

Example

This file is plain text at https://example.com/llms.txt, not HTML. A minimal outline might look like:

# Acme Handbags

> Brief guidance for automated systems using our public content.

## Optional paths
